“Stopping off at Your Place on the way to the Tip”: Carpet & the Plastic Drink Bottle
In William McDonough & Michael Braungart’s book CRADLE TO CRADLE they suggest that using plastic drink bottles to make carpet is perhaps not as sustainable as it could be. What we could be doing, they suggest, is designing plastics so they can be reused for the same purpose. Each time plastics are recycled they degrade (or did when the book was written). The writers suggest designing plastics so the material is recycled forever – therefore staying in a loop never going to the tip. Unlike the carpet in this film which the writers suggest is only -stopping off at our place on the way to the tip.
