This video shows that while its a lightweight system aimed at DSLR usage, it can definitely handle the Red Epic/ Scarlet in self motorised mode as well. Please keep in mind that I shot this video straight after I set this baby up for the very first time on an uneven floor and unlevelled feet.
The Epic has the 17-50mm Red Zoom on it, DSMC Side handle, top and side handles, the red bottom plate plus the LCD and redbrick V-Lock battery....so its quite a heavy setup that could easily be trimmed down more in weight but the slider motor handles it quite well.
The reason why I went with this system is because the motor is on the sled itself, not on the actual rail/slider system like on the kessler sliders, so you can actually take the camera sled off, and use it as a motorised tabletop dolly on any smooth surface.
it is obviously not quite the same as the P&S tabletop dolly....but considering the price of this package its a nice handy little tool to have. Stay tuned for some proper footage shot on the epic.
