Echoes of a Dream is a short story I wrote and created for my Bachelors Degree from october 2012 till february 2013.
It tells de story of a young girl named Deila who fell in love so easily and like a bad dream everything that matters to her vanished away everynight she lay asleep. This is a short Story of a broken heart, a piece of hope, and a happy ending even if it doesn't seem so.

Once upon a time
there was a miraculous girl
She had long brown hair and pretty blue eyes
which made everyone look at her twice
then one special day she caught glimpse of a young sailor
handsome, polite and brave, to a gentleman he was similar
As the last sunbeams were playing outside
the park was shimmering in the dim fall light.
A colorful flowerbed was where their eyes first met,
when both were eager to pick the same violet.
Both falling in love with the beautiful flower,
they stared at each other for hours and hours.
He decided to leave the flower with a promise to Delia
who decided to reveal her name to him
He said they would meet again
He took her hand and kissed her goodbye
while looking her straight in the eye
Her heart suddenly felt like in flames,
as she saw him turn around an tell her that his name was James.
One dark night she received a letter,
which turned her life not to the better
It was from James written in pain
there might be no chance for them to met ever again.
He had to travel to a foreign place,
to fight for peace in any case.
But she should not give up all her hopes in life,
Because if he made is way back he would take her as his wife.
Delia was sad at first but tried not to focus on the worst.
In fact she held her hope quite high,
she waited for James all day long looking at the sky.
It was not until midnight one crucial day
that she had an ominous dream that led her mind astray.
What a curious place would this be,
she wondered and tried to see,
but the only thing that caught her eye
was the violet she received from James when he kissed her goodbye.
She wanted to touch her but there was someone first
a beautiful woman who appeared to be one of the worst
she grabbed the flower and so it burst.

She vanished like she had never been there,
instead there was a large clock that attracted Delia´s stare
6 o’clock was almost there,
As she awakened again in her room, it was dawn
she noticed that James’ violet was gone.
Knowing that there would be no way of getting it back
she was scared to fall asleep because what could vanish next ?
The following night an ominous atmosphere filled her room
So she had a terrible foreboding that someting dreadful
was to happen soon
Walking around the park she knew so well,
she once again saw the woman with the vanishing spell
but what she was up to she could not tell.
But then, Delia was paralyzed by what she saw,
it was James, the man who had been lost in war.
The mysterious woman was looking at him
an he disappeared leaving a smile of sin
Delia then knew that the life of her beloved was at stake
And that she had to find him soon to save his fate.
A huge clock suddenly appeared on the ground
showing how much time there is left for him to be found.
A majestic ship came flying over the trees,
her beloved onboard, he slowly vanished as he was carried by a swift breeze.
Realising there was no chance to get him back to the ground
She watched the flower ship fly away with a melancholic sound
Observing her love floating away
Delia heard the dark lady say
your time is running out my dear
there’s no need for you to stay here
time has come to let you go.
As she woke up at dawn the following day
Big drops of rain obscured the sky in a miserable grey
Delia knew at once and her heart cracked
That James, her love, was never coming back.
