I took a few scouting shots in Hocking Hills, Ohio, to try out some picture style settings with the Technicolor Cinestyle preset for Canon DSLRs. This was just after a heavy rain storm that turned the normally blue green waters to a dirty brown color.
The Cinestyle custom settings are a bit off of the recommended settings from Technicolor. I set the sharpness to 1, contrast to -3, saturation to +4, and color tone at the 0 default. Then, rather than apply the recommended LUT in post, I just lowered the black level slightly in Premiere Pro using the Fast Color Corrector.
I think using these settings lessens the harsh contrast a bit, from just applying the LUT, and also utilizes more of the color grading in camera as opposed to doing it in post.
