This work was created for the occasion of the Batsheva workshop in 2003.
I was interested in expressing a sense of ambition and speed. There was something about the Bach music used in the main section of the piece, that I found created a sense of momentum, a sense of total involvement with its speed, and celebrating it.
I wanted to experiment with different flavours of theatricality and movement, creating an intensified atmosphere of absurdity, that could magnetise an audience beyond their usual logic, and linear story telling.
Afterwards I added the three solos and put them in front of the core section. A format that I would experiment with again in other works yet to come.
In looking back I feel I was not yet 'Batsheva-nized', and it seems it had an ambition that would be transmuted in the years that followed.
