The Staffordshire Hoard is the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork ever found – over 3,000 items dating from the 7th century kingdom of Mercia.
For a new exhibition touring across Staffordshire for three years, part of the Mercian Trail, we were asked to produce a short film talking to experts and local residents – as well as the metal detectorist who discovered the hoard and the farmer on whose land it was found - about why they think the Staffordshire Hoard was buried and what it means to them.
