This is a little documentary which I did for my college graduation. I was determined to stay away as possible from conventional topics that my classmates were doing - how to make rubber sheets, for example.
I spent exactly Rs.559.50 ($11.5360) for the shooting of this movie. I had to pay my friend's bus fare, a litre of petrol for a friend's scooter and about Rs 200 for the dead fowl in the documentary.
I used a Sony Handycam and deck-to-deck editing (that ancient method where nimble fingers meant accurate cuts). We shot long sequences so that there would be only limited editing necessary.
I recuperated my costs almost within the month. I entered into an inter-collegiate documentary competition and won the top-prize, making me richer by Rs 3000 ($61.8854). At the end of the day, I was richer by experience and cash.
I never took up films seriously as I turned to journalism.
But each time I see this video, I get transported to those care-free years. Those were the times!
