I love SECRET gigs!
Unfortunately, I am such a blabbermouth, I find it really hard to keep a secret. :(
I understand why I am not allowed to tell. Rockin' Japanese band, The Zoobombs are playing at The Tote, so even though this secret gig at 2am at The Pony was also booked, they didn't want it to detract on the ticket sales for their headlining Tote gig with Mesa Cosa, Baptism Of Uzi and Batpiss. It was such at great experience to see Zoobombs live in action twice in two different venues a few hours aparts. No where else but in Melbourne Rock Central.
A BIG thank you for Mesa Cosa for bringing the band back to Australia.
Zoobombs are a Japanese indie rock band, formed in Tokyo in 1994 by vocalist and guitarist Don Matsuo. The band's funk-rock style draws on influences such as the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis.
The band also includes bassist Moostop, keyboardist Matta, percussionist Piro and drummer Pocky. They first gained exposure in North America on tour as an opening act for The Flaming Lips and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and subsequently gained distribution for their albums in the United States and Canada.
In 2000, the band recorded a live album, Bomb You Live in Toronto, Ontario at the El Mocambo.
