here's the 3rd test i did with the new firmware upgraded FS700, the S-Log2 and couple of more new function equipped.
the first small crappy test i did :
pass : 64956472
the second one at the park :
pass : 65408916
Sony Japan is kind enough for letting me to play with this beta test version of the firmware for 4K2K RAW upgrading coming this summer. right now it does only work with 8bit recording internally and externally.
for greater bit depth recording, you need to bring or send your FS700 to the Sony for hardware upgrade.
alright, this time i put the scenes from dusk into night and you clearly will find what we can get with S-Log2, especially the footage like "skyscraper" (1:27) , S-Log2 does great job and it looks quite impressive!
WE STILL HAVE THAT "HIGHLIGHT ARTIFACTS" EVEN WITH S-LOG2, as you can find it with "big ferris wheel"(1:51). that's well known as "gigantic clock", that ultra bright lines as sweep hand could recognized from miles away, so it's just damn too bright for our baby FS700!
however, i put another comparison at the end of the video and hope you guys see that S-Log2 did quite nice job with bright neon sign shows "karaoke"!

FS700 with "beta test version" firmware
Metabones Speed Booster
ROKINON CINE 35mm T1.5
EF 100mm F2.8 Macro IS
SIGMA 10-20mm F3.5
ATOMOS Samurai for external recording (ProRes 422 HQ)
1/50 shutter speed
speaking of ISO, please note that FS700 pump the base ISO to 2000 for S-Log2 gamma, for pushing the sensor output.
this footage is ungraded so please grab the original ProRes422HQ data from download button below and have fun with it.
once again, this firmware isn't final yet so don't judge this for now. you will get the final one very soon.
i would like to say thank you for Sony Japan. domo arigato.
