Cosmic Symphony is a short experiment and a class assignment for the course "Visual Music and Intermedia" by Prof. Vibeke Sorensen -- at the School of Art, Design & Media, Nanyang Technological University.

It is based on the data received by Radio Telescopes from outer space. Astronomical objects that have a changing magnetic field can produce radio waves. Radio Telescopes operate in the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, so they receive and detect these radio waves and make images of space. We can convert the radio waves received by Radio Telescopes to audible sound. Although no scientific knowledge would be gained by converting the radio waves into audible sound, the raw material for creating an artwork would be obtained.
The original sounds are from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO), that are digitally mixed and manipulated. The images are digitally enhanced real footage of telescopes or amateur space photography.
