The Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) is a non-profit voluntary organization formed in 1999 by a group of parents of children with cancer to discover ways in which they could help each other and their children.

In 2009, SCCS launched its first ever head shaving event Go Bald in Kuching, Sarawak in hopes of creating public awareness about childhood cancer. The first year of Go Bald was a big warmly received by the public, seeing 113 heads shaved and RM 250,000 raised for the society.

5 years down the road, with more than 3,700 heads shaved and more than RM4.3 million raised, Go Bald is the signature project and main fundraiser for SCCS.

The funds raised from Go Bald has allowed the society to built is new Children Cancer centre that serves as a halfway house for patients and their family during their treatment here at the Sarawak General Hospital. With 13 rooms, a big living room, dining area and a playground, the Centre is a home away from home for the children during their time of treatment.   In addition, the funds raised also allows the society to continue to develop and improve in providing holistic support to families by addressing financial, logistical, medical, social, spiritual, and emotional needs of the children and their families.

With Go Bald expanding its wings to Miri, Sibu and Bintulu, SCCS hopes to continue to spread the awareness of childhood Cancer and assist children and families going through cancer not only in or Sarawak and eventually other areas of Malaysia with one mission in mind that is to help kids fight cancer.
