Dr. Harriet Friedmann is a professor of Sociology and Geography, and a Fellow of the Centre for International Studies at the University of Toronto. She is also the author of "The Political Economy of Food". She lectured at the Global Futures Forum in May of 2010 on "The Organizational Ecology of Food Systems in Change and the Southern Ontario Foodshed Project".
In part 1 Dr. Friedmann begins by commenting on some recent news in food standards and related policies. She introduces us to the good food movement, the slow food movement, the food security movement and more. Dr. Friedmann then brings our attention to Carolyn Steel's concept of "sitopia"...
