Emotions was inspired by the Haiti earthquake that claimed over 230,000 lives. I remember seeing all the images of people who had lost everything, mothers who had lost their children, husbands who had lost their wives. Heartbreaking!
The compassion, empathy, love and emotions that people all over the world felt for the people of Haiti moved me. When we put ourselves in other people's shoes, we can do amazing things. When we show and share our emotions, we connect.
I wanted to create a Music Video that was a short story. One that avoided the common clichés of videos we see on MTV. A short film, a love story focused on two people living separate lives.
Here is a woman who appears to have everything. However her life is falling apart and she is overwhelmed. Witnessing her life unravel is a man in a wheelchair who lives across from her apartment. He is a painter who is connected to the world through his art. He expresses his love for the woman the only way he knows best, by leaving small paintings at her doorstep whenever she feels sad. Paintings that show her that life is beautiful.
It is through these glimpses, these windows into a world she does not see, that the artist shares his gift of appreciating the wonderful pieces in the puzzle that is life. He reconnects her to living in this world - to be fearless and to share her emotions.
