The notion of a future antiquity, a future so distant that even our age will be considered the most ancient history, expresses an inverted optimism that posits both our own demise (as a positive force), and continuity in our aftermath (as inevitable).
This movie was made in multiple installments, from 2006-2008. "Opening Suitcases" screened in the 2007 Ann Arbor & Athens International Film Festivals. "Domestic Surveillance" screened in the 2008 Twin Cities & Chicago Underground Film Festivals. "The Tears of Saddam Hussein" screened on Twin Cities Public Television's 2009 MNTV series. It was also presented at the Walker Arts Center in the Best Buy Video Kiosk, March-August 2010.
