The Walk In Shelter is an interactive documentary film project, which combines a robotic sculpture that walks within the five boroughs of New York with video interviews on the subject of sex trafficking and domestic violence which play as pedestrians approach the robot. Symbolically, it represents a people’s shelter, for those whom are victimized. When the viewer approaches the shelter at a comfortable and safe distance, it triggers its storytelling mechanism. Physically, this shelter is a robotic video sculpture, driven by motors and spur gears, and incorporating motion sensors, an arduino, a video projection and four speakers.
