Starting in 1990 the DLRA (Dry Lakes Racing Association) organizes and runs the annual 'Speed week' at Lake Gairdner, a salt lake 440 kms N.E of Adelaide in South Australia. This unique week long event gives entrants the opportunity to run their vehicles flat out across the salt flat as fast as they dare go.
Drivers from around Australia and the globe come to compete and records are often broken across the many diverse vehicular classes including everything from stock motorbikes to jet engined 'lakesters'.
This short film captures some of the cars, motorbikes and trucks of the 2013 event, not to mention the characters that pilot them.
