Due to the large volume of tourists on the slopes of Snowdon throughout the summer months, there is a voluntary ban on cycling between May and September. This made it the last weekend of the year that a full descent of the mountain would be possible. With the weather forecast being bad for the Sunday, we left London at 4am on the Saturday morning. After a quick bite to eat at the bottom, we set off up the Llamberis Pass. With several filming stops we eventually made it to the top by 2 in the afternoon. Whilst Tristan faffed about with a GoPro and fell off his bike in front of a crowd of spectators, I set up a quick time-lapse and caught up on a bit of sleep in the glorious sunshine. All too soon we had to head down again, via our chosen route, the Ranger Path. This was a lot faster than the ascent - had it not been for trying to make a film I think it would have taken Tristan less than 20 minutes.....
The Last Weekend Of Winter is just a taster for a longer video: the third in the film series “Spoken Words” - coming soon!
