This video shows how a file can be hidden inside of a JPEG, without distorting the image in any way, and completely recovered. The only tool required is a basic Hex Editor. Forensically, it is important to be aware of this fact. If a suspect is in possession of an abnormally large JPEG, something may be afoot. On an everyday level, this simple steganographic technique can be used to hide tax returns, scans of identification cards, or other data that one wants to keep from prying eyes. This technique offers no encryption.

Most importantly: This technique is NOT intended for illegal use. If you choose to do so, you will not only be caught, but your penalties will be higher for trying to obfuscate evidentiary materials.

Please use responsibly.
