Uday Kulkarni is a virtuoso Tabla player of India. He travels widely across the India throughout the year performing in numerous festivals as a soloist or with other outstanding musicians.
Uday began his studies early with Pt H.Somashekhar,PtRavindra Yavagal Of Bangalore,Pt Suraj Purandare of Dharwad. He was also privileged to learn under Pt.Vaman rao Mirazkar of Kolhapur. All of Uday’s teachers have been from the Delhi and Farrukhabad Gharana (school) of Tabla-playing. He is thus fortunate enough to have learnt under the Lineage of Legendry Tabla Maestro Ustad Ahmed Jan Tirakwa and presently under the lineage of Ustad Amir Hussain Khan .

Passed UGC-NET exam in music held in December 2007 and has been eligible for recruitment as a lecturer all over India.

Uday has accompanied many leading instrumentalist and vocalists of the country. He has given solo performance all over India. Uday is presently Perusing PhD in the subject “STUDY OF COMPOSITIONS AND THEIR DEVELOPMENTS IN DELHI AND FARUKHABAD GHARANA IN TABLA”. He is teaching tabla to many young students in a school of his own, named as “Ti Ra Ki Ta” school of tabla .He has conducted a State Level Tabla competition for young tabla players in the year 2010. He is also organizing various cultural concerts for upliftment of young musicians.
Uday is working as a guest lecturer for tabla in music department of Karnatak university dharwad .He has been performing regularly in AIR and is accompanying various young and experienced artists of both forms vocal and instrumental. He has elaborated the technique of developing a TALA and display in its subtleties in a vivid style of his own. He has studied the characteristics from all the GHARANAS, and has adopted them in his playing. His tabla has been appreciated my many noted artists of India to name a few Dr.Gangubai hangal,Pt Sheshgiri hangal,Pt.Suraj purandare,Pt.Ravindra yavagal,Pt.Vaman rao mirazkar,Pt.Suresh talwalkar ,Pt Nayan Ghosh,PtArvind Mulgaokar,Pt sameer chatterji etc. His fingering style is noteworthy. He has developed a unique style of playing by highlighting the most latent part of a kayada, rela, chalans etc. His tonal quality, laykari, speeds and clarity has regaled the audiences all over.
