New Jersey

In this video press release, Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver (D-Essex) continues to advocate for her legislation to increase New Jersey's minimum wage, during a State House news conference Monday with the New Jersey Time to Care Coalition - a broad base group of 82 organizations from around the state that support initiatives that benefit working families.

Oliver's legislation, (A-2162) would raise New Jersey's current minimum wage of $7.25/hr to $8.50/hr and would tie further minimum wage increases to annual changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) so that the minimum wage can once again represent a minimum livable wage in the state.

The full Assembly passed the measure in May by a vote of 46-33.
