The interior of the country is making great strides towards desertification. The old men sitting in the squares of little villages, are usual images in the news. The nature imposes the slow pace. Changes in traditional way of life, hard work in the countryside, where animals were the driving force, shall disappear with the aging of individuals. Part of livelihood still comes from the earth. The youngest, the few that remains, looking for other jobs in nearby towns or cities on the coastland.
The idea for the development of the documentary began with the construction of the damwater, foreign object, disturbing the natural order of things, a sign of modernity desired by some and feared by others.
The stored image, imbued with emotions, such as genes, traits resurfaced as an outline to be filled, conscious of being an independent existence. People become the essence of film discourse.
During two years, we follow the construction of a damwater for supplying water for the neighboring villages and the influence on the livelihood of the inhabitants of an isolated mountain village, where the rural work still depends on the animal.
With the accompaniment of dam construction of Pretarouca, the death of an aging population, appears as an harbinger of extinction of a way of life.
