Sure it's a car, but really it makes you look a bit childish (not a bad thing). If you don't have one of those real cars, you cannot be a full citizen in this town. There is public transport, but it is very limited. To be a full citizen means, if you hadn't noticed, to be a consumer. Your access to the many consumption opportunities, including education, fitness and entertainment is seriously restricted if you don't have a car. Plus taking the bus marks you clearly as less than a success in this city. Whereas using public transport or biking has a certain cache in big cities, in our town this applies only to a small group of displaced metrosexuals. We have a few bike lanes, but (no kidding) cars are allowed to park on them. I guess on the bright side, Canada is not a class society.
