"Disciples" explores the lives of three openly-gay ex-Mormons who all left the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in pursuit of equality, sometimes at great personal cost. "Disciples" documents the unique experiences and challenges they faced in a religion that places a premium on "traditional marriage." The Mormon church, through it's staunch support of Proposition 8 -- California's gay marriage ban -- has demonstrated its inability to help gay Mormons bridge the gap between their sexual identity and the belief system they were raised with.
"Very moving and helpful documentary. This will add to the important conversation on the subject." ~ Carol Lynn Pearson, author of "No More Goodbyes: Circling the Wagons around Our Gay Loved Ones", and writer of "Facing East".
"Very well done and very moving…an excellent and classy piece of filmmaking." ~ Richard Dutcher, writer/director of "God's Army" and "Brigham City".
