The RED Room

"Skeleton Crew: Behind the Scenes of Battleground" looks at how the cast and crew dealt with the challenges presented shooting a feature film on a low budget. It also looks at how some of the special effects were produced, including guns, explosions, stabbing, fake boobs, decapitation and more!

"Battleground" is an indy Canadian Action/Horror feature film shot during the summer of 2010 around Toronto, Canada. The film is available on Netflix and on Blu-Ray/DVD from Amazon.

It was a particularly challenging shoot. The production had to deal with missing equipment, no power on location and even the near death of a key actor in a car accident! As a result, all pre-production scheduling went out the window and had to be made up as we went along.

The film was shot on a RED ONE MX with a set of awesome Lomo Anamorphic Lenses. There was a minimal crew who all pulled together to make the film happen; hence the name of this Behind The Scenes doc (also the original title of the film was "Skeleton Lake").

This is my first attempt at producing a Behind The Scenes featurette. It was shot on a Sony Z5 with minimal gear.

SPOILER ALERT: There are some spoilers in this Behind The Scenes.

Hopefully some people find it interesting. If you have any feedback, please let me know in the comments below.
