So, I finally got the hang of using my Atomos Ninja Assassin 4k 10bit ProRes recorder with the GH4 utilizing V-log. And it's basically film in an SSD box... I can shoot with no light, or in this case 1 light...
--OK fine; the projector in the projected shots counts as two, and I guess the sun wash coming through the windows counts in the B&W footage... but other than that... one Arri 650 fresnel lit this entire thing. I did use a 2x3 foot bounce to get a nice soft wash on her face and shoulder in the Projector room shots. --
This is the first project to be created with ColorGHear Spectrum. It was finished entirely within FCP-X.
Spectrum is a revolution in Color and will be available for use on your projects this fall. No more rushing around trying to find a colorist to fix your project at the end. Spectrum solves all your problems before you ever roll cameras.
Shoot details - zero budget - 1 light, 1 bounce, exposure and grade achieved entirely in-camera. There was no post grading at all - only re-application of the LUTs used onboard the Atomos, and applied in FCP-X. With the exception of one tiny gamma adjustment in the color panel for one shot in the B&W footage, this is straight out of the camera. The LUTs used in production were applied to the 10bit V-log footage, edited, FX applied, export --- done.
