On the evening of March 11th, 2014 while I was driving home from work I spotted a huge plume of smoke coming from San Francisco near 6 p.m. (PDT). I drove to the nearest vista (Shimada Friendship Park in Richmond, California) which measures 9.74 miles due NNE of the city, turned on KCBS news radio (106.9 FM) , set up a tiny tripod on the dash, and began shooting with a Nikon Coolpix S9100 pocket camera. This is the best one minute of the several dash board shots I took.
Note: You can just barely make out the KCBS News helicopter above the smoke while the journalist inside the craft it giving his live report.
Fortunately no major injuries reported so far.
