At the dawn of a very shiny day, yet cold in this end of November, on the side of the road between Kimnyeong and Woljeongri in Jeju-do, suddenly we noticed dozens of haenyos popping out of the sea and bringing back a miraculous fishing. They said it was a one shot fishing of "Sora", seafish very popular in the island, on a spot where it had not been covered since weeks. The men (notice the exact separation of work between sexes) are all resellers for restaurants or markets. There were around 50 haenyos that day, carrying each of them something like 15-20 kilos. There are all over 60 years old. I almost caught a back pain just by seeing them.
