KINGSLAND was inspired by, and made with, the participation of the Kurdish community of north London. The actors are non professionals, the locations are real, but the treatment is epic.
Novelist Iain Sinclair writes: “…Grisoni’s quest is to create a story from their stories, without exploiting mere exoticism, difference. His solution is to promote ‘the sacredness of everyday life’, the siren song of the mundane; every slight movement weighed and intended.”
KINGSLAND premiered at the Times BFI London Film Festival, 2009 and won a BAFTA nomination for best short film that year. #1 THE DREAMER is the first of five chapters that will be woven into a full length film.
