This is one of my videos which were part the wonderful videoart project of The Oneminutes: "To celebrate the 400 anniversary of the famous Amsterdam canals, we capture what is behind the facade in 400 one minutes. Not a standard recording of reality, but a special view of a detail, a shadow, a worn staircase, a completely renovated floor, wrongly restored window frame, the real canal green; a visual story that gives a new insight in canal houses. We need makers to help us. are you interested? Please contact email@example.com"
This project is an initiative of the Amsterdam Museum and The Oneminutes (Sandberg Institute Amsterdam, masters Rietveld Academy) and is an official part of the World Interior Events (Amsterdam Beurs van Berlage september 2013).
I visited more than 20 canal houses in which I filmed: a hotel, a bank, garages, churches, a renovation, gardens, a pavillion, museums, and houses where people live. I know some people who live or work in a canal house. But most houses participated because I passed by on my bicycle and just asked them. Quite an experience I can tell you. Only one (shop) said 'no'. Enjoy!
