Masonik is deeply inspired by the meditative works of David Lynch. His book Catching The Big Fish provides a wonderful insight into his creative process.
Masonik saxophone player Paul Pax Andrews is also a practitioner of the mediation tradition.
Threnody for Film Dub features Krzysztof Penderecki's Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima, as a musical reference to the death of film. Lynch is heard to state that film, for him, is dead. He never wants to use it again. He will now only shoot digitally.
The clip features stills from select Lynch films & his art work & re-presents these to form mysterious/symbolic shapes. A visual metaphor for WIND.
Lynch's waving fingers signals to Masonik the invocation of the MAGICIAN.
The music is a live take with no overdubs or post-processing of any kind.
