Stills In Motion (SIM) is a concept designed to combine elements of traditional framed art and the new possibilities of video. SIMs retain the "permanent frame" character of traditional paintings, drawings, and photos. But they differ in allowing all the dynamic elements of video to play in that frame. Clearly, the SIM concept is not completely new, but coining it and bringing together work under that rubric may be fun and stimulate more work along those lines. Related Groups are the "1 minute project" and "The Pictures Don't Move," many of which have already been added to this Group.

So what is the same and what is different in the criteria of the Stills in Motion?

THE SAME as in the 1 minute project and "The Pictures don't move" Group is:
1. No camera movement (zoom, pan, ...)
DIFFERENT in SIM is:
2. Editing is fine. It is not required, but also not discouraged.
3. No restrictions on sound. No sound, original sound, created sound are all fine.
4. Duration of 1 minute or less.

You are invited to add any videos that fit this profile to the Vimeo GROUP "Stills in Motion."

This Group, as opposed to the "Stills in Motion" Channel, is for discussion and easy addition of your own videos or others that might fit the format. I can then add them to the Channel.
