The Lantern Jungle was held in the Brigantine Room at Harbourfront on February 8, 9 & 10, 2013 during the CIBC LunarFest.
This is the Year of the Snake. LunarFest is Canada's premier presenter of contemporary expression in Asian arts and culture. It endeavours to reach new Canadians and those who have been here for many generations to share in the diversity of Canada. It also encourages and fosters the collaboration of Canadian and International cultural presenters to create new forms of artistic expressions. LunarFest is a festival that brings together Soul, Art and Life on one stage.
A colourful jungle trail of Lanterns was built for visitors to explore. It was a magical place for young kids who were able to interact with all the displays. Snakes that lit up, parrots that repeated phrases and a host of colourful characters made it exciting. The artist, Master Jin Chang Lin, created the six Lion Dancers of the World and demonstrated how LED lights were used in the construction of the Lanterns at a workshop.
