Satara Foundation is a Dutch non-profit organization that encourages and empowers underprivileged women in India to develop themselves and their enterprise in a structured and continuous manner. We provide them with training, entrepreneurial support, and access to the global market under fair conditions. We help these women realize their dreams.
Satara strives for the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, most notably the eradication of poverty, the promotion of gender equality, and the establishment of global partnerships for development. Our specific path to this destination is in bringing together cutting-edge Western fashion design with the empowerment of talented but underprivileged women in developing regions.
Around our core of sustainable fashion we have woven a unique cross-border network of capable partners that share our vision and are committed to the pursuit of dreams. The Amsterdam Fashion Institute provides blooming talent and inspiration through selected graduates who transfer their skills to the seamstresses while at the same time designing a collection that reflects our ideals. The Mann Deshi microcredit bank ensures full support in the region by providing their local network and expertise. And leading Dutch universities deliver competent volunteers who provide invaluable support both at home and abroad. This network has the will and ability to create a sustainable clothing and textiles production network in India, and in doing so bring underprivileged women confidence, independence, and ultimately hope for a better future for themselves and their children.
Satara represents women for women, education for education, dreams for dreams.
