Paths & Pixels is a project within a project. On a visit to Chicago I was fortunate to have a few days to roam around with my camera and take in the amazing architecture and feel of the city. When I returned to LA the photos sat on my hard drive, begging to be something more than just another minimalist black and white. It must have been well past midnight when the idea struck me to trace out every single line of every single building. I wanted to imagine what the buildings may have looked like still under construction. What started out as digital photography and photo manipulation soon spiraled out of control into endless hours of tracing in Illustrator. I then proceeded to call every hipster and hacker shop in Los Angeles to find the best rates for a laser cutter. Paths & Pixels is a culmination of the first two ideas to produce a visualization of construction and deconstruction. Enjoy.
