We headed out of Dana Point to the continental shelf to dive with the pelagic drifters. It was an ideal day, sunny, flat, calm and warm. But the water was full of marine snow. Lots of particulate in the water. As we were heading out farther, we came across a school of very large bottlenosed dolphins. In our pursuit of them, we noticed a lot of kelp fronds in the water. Off we went in search of floating kelp paddies. We did find a few, as well as some large flotsam. The large timbers were too heavy for us to bring aboard, but we did bring the crate lid. And, a bunch of balloons.
