After returning from the Antarctic we organized our first Cycle for Water @ School project at the Ashley Primary School in the United Kingdom. After having viewed our Call to Action video, the Year-5 children (10 years old) of the school began organizing and getting all of their 400 schoolmates excited about Cycle for Water.
This group of 60 organizers (recognizable in the video by their blue Cycle for Water sweaters) spent 8 weeks setting up this project; approaching teachers, getting approval from parents, making sponsor forms, setting out the track, making sure all the bikes and scooters were in order, and choosing a water project to adopt in Thailand.
By linking primary school students with a local water project in a different part of the world, empowering them to organize and make a positive impact, while having fun cycling; we hope to facilitate more tangible change, sustain inspiration, and create thousands of Cycle for Water Ambassadors around the world!
