OPENLAB is a welcome-to-all research forum that meets regularly to find ways to explore what we mean when we say we are 'performing' and to develop the set of skills deployed during the action of performance. OPENLAB's sessions are made by a constantly changing group of people and performers can join the group at any time. The sessions work within the frame that performing is an action related also to the activities of perception and presence.
An "open OPENLAB", on the other hand, is a hybrid between session and performance.
Performance generally requires two key ingredients: the performers and the audience. Therefore, only in the presence of an audience can we practice the ultimate exercise of 'performing'. Thats why sometimes the lab opens up the work we do to an audience. By opening OPENLAB, we achieve our fundamental aim, and for this reason we are always grateful to the audience for being there.
