Early Feb of 2008 we were commissioned to film a royal wedding in Udaipur. Tara & Raj (NJ based couple) were looking for a highly cinematic wedding film. We had spent over 200 hours consulting, planning this wedding. We found a local production co-ordination (from jaipur) who helped with with our equipment/shooting requirements. The crane shooter also came from Jaipur and had previously worked in bollywood films such as Umrao Jaan. We also set-up kino lights for the first time and used those during getting ready, wedding scenes.
We filmed for 5 days in different locations in udaipur including lake palace, jag mandir (wedding venue), shiv niwas palace, shilpgram village (for authentic look), udaivillas, jagdish mandir etc. A lot of the locations were shot with crane set-ups and kino lights, we also created simple sets by adding unique props in the background such as antique mirror etc, we co-ordinated with the make-up/hair to attain the exact hair n make-up look as we had wanted from scene to scene. For the getting ready scene we specifically arranged rajasthani girls to help the bride get ready.. and had asked them to sing traditional songs while doing this. The total crew consisted of myself, my husband Sid, who was the main steadicam operator and I mostly worked on cut away, handheld/tripod shots/direction/action etc. We had a production co-ordinator, a crane operator and his team, a gaffer and his assistant.
After all this, we also shot a bridal elegance video in chicago (that was then mixed with all the rest of the footage)
This was our biggest production to date..
