On the 2nd February of 1943, at 2:50pm the HMS SAFARI attacked with guns and torpedoes a two ship convoy 10 miles West of Capri island off the Positano shore. goo.gl/maps/sEGtq.

The SS VALSAVOIA vimeo.com/53775747 was the first ship sunk by the HMS SAFARI. Few minutes later, it was the SS SALEMI 's turn. Hit by several gun shells, it was reached by a torpedo, sinking just near the other steamer.

Last year we documented the wreck of SS VALSAVOIA vimeo.com/53775747 . Recently we filmed and explored for the very first time the wreck of SS SALEMI. The ship lies under 105m / 345 ft of water in an upward position.

Unfortunately, on the bottom, we had only 3m / 10 ft of viz making exploration and filming rather difficult.

The ship's bow points East while the stern is completely missing. The wreck is covered by large nets and most of the ship's structures like deckhouse are destroyed.

On the bow, covered by a large trawl net, we found the ship's bell.
