I recently spent an evening plane spotting near LAX at a fantastic location adjacent to the airport. I've always been a fan of planes of all sorts--jetliners, jet fighters, etc.--and spent many hours as a kid building models and going to air shows.
This evening was perfect for shooting and the colors in the western sky were spectacular. Enjoy the short, as I hope it evokes the fun, adventure, and romance of air travel, as well as the magic of flight. ;0)
- Shot entirely with the Canon EOS Rebel T2i
- 1080p, 24fps
- Nikon E Series 70-200 mm lens; f4
- ISO 100 and 400
- Shutter Speed was 1/50
- Picture Profile: Neutral
- Tiffen ND 9 filter
- Tripod and handheld
- Cut in FCP
- Graded in After Effects with Colorista
- Music: "Mr. Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra
If you look closely, you can just barely make out the iconic "Hollywood" sign nestled up in the hills in the background of a few of the shots.
*UPDATE: In June, "LAX" was featured in an KCET (Los Angeles' PBS station) article! Read it here: kcet.org/socal/voices/pixeltown/vod-who-said-lax-wasnt-pretty.html
