Part of a documentary on Mexico City: vimeo.com/35489779. In this episode, we explore the southern reaches of the city. What is particularly interesting in many places is the mix of wealthy and poor houses. Many of the thoroughfares are narrow - former villages swallowed up by El Monstruo. Houses are built up the mountains and into forests as far as possible. Some streets turn into rushing rivers after heavy rains. Yet most buildings have been "regularized", which means they have legal status and receive city services.
The music is by the Mexican band Molotov from their 1999 album Apocalypshit.
