Elena Osterwalder was born and raised in Mexico and now lives in Columbus Ohio. In her recent work, Osterwalder turns to pre-Hispanic methods of producing organic dyes to create natural and environmentally safe installations on hand made paper or cotton and silk.
"My objective is to fuse old methods used by artisans with contemporary thought processes.” Osterwalder has exhibited widely, and, in 2007, she was awarded a grant from the National Association of Latin Arts and Culture Fund for the Arts for her exploration of “earth-friendly colors.”
Elena has an opening art Art Access Gallery Friday March 9
