"Geheimnisvoller Yangtse" [engl. title: "Mysterious Yangtse" / german w. engl. subtitles / DV / ca. 70 min / 2002] by Harald Scherz - haraldscherz.com
"Geheimnisvoller Yangtse" [engl. title: "Mysterious Yangtse"] can be described as an experimental documentary with an ethnographic, authentic intention. The feature length film takes the viewer on a journey to China, combining Super 8 film footage shot in 1981 with images from 20 years later. The narrator and main protagonist is Otto, an elder man who traveled to many places in his life. Otto reflects and explains the world he learned to know by recombining his knowledge with the Chinese stage from which he narrates and the place he origins: Salzburg, Austria. "Everywhere different, what should you do about it..." says Otto and leans back in the chair lift heading towards Ghost Town.
