The river Kamu runs through the city of Kyoto, crossed by many bridges. People walk and bike on the banks of the river. You can dine in riverside restaurants that offer open-air terraces at the back of the buildings. The city is surrounded by mountains on all sides. In addition to another river, Katsura, there are numerous canals criss-crossing the city, making it somewhat reminiscent of Amsterdam in this respect. But it is, in many other respects, truly incomparable. Scores high on culture shock.
Sound: Yushida Brothers, Ibuki.
