Joe Ballarini is a feature film director and screenwriter who graduated from the School of Cinematic Arts at USC.
He is currently writing MERLIN for New Line Cinema, produced by Offspring Entertainment. He just finished drafting the 3-D sci-fi feature ATLANTIS for Walden Media with Dean Parisot directing and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps producing.
Michael Bay and Benderspink are producing his found-footage horror spec, LOCKDOWN AT FRANKLIN HIGH, which Joe wrote and sold to Sony Pictures.
Joe wrote on 20th Century Fox Animation’s ICE AGE 4 and their upcoming feature EPIC. He also wrote the upcoming TURBO for Dreamworks Animation.
Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Entertainment and Lionsgate released Joe’s zombie comedy DANCE OF THE DEAD, which Joe wrote and directed second unit.
MODERN FAMILY’S Eric Stonestreet starred in Joe’s feature directorial debut, FATHER VS SON, produced by Michael Huffington. The comedy won the Houston Film Festival Award for Best Feature Film.
Jerry Bruckheimer is producing Joe’s original spec THE RESIDENCE about a Secret Service Agent discovering the White House is haunted, which was purchased by Walt Disney Pictures.
Joe to write and direct episodes of Vin Diesel's THE ROPES, a gritty show about bouncers in New York City, released by Fox Digital Entertainment, distributed by Crackle.
Charlize Theron is attached to star in his original turn of the century adventure script, THE LEGENDARY MCCLOUDS with Tripp Vinson producing.
Joe adapted the science-fiction graphic novel MAINTENANCE for McG to direct at Warner Brothers Studios. Miramax purchased Joe’s original spy thriller SPY NEXT DOOR. New Regency produced his original pitch, THE NATIVITY.
ABC Family and Varsity Pictures hired Joe to adapt the horror novel THE HOLLOW about a family that moves into Sleepy Hollow. Joe also adapted the sci-fi novel, THE ROBOT for Alloy Entertainment.
Joe is also left-handed.
