Heidi Stokes makes animations, which specifically question or re-evaluate our psychological needs, by reinventing the meanings of objects or spaces. A picture of tomorrows world” optimizes this by examining the consequences of a world were the cost of living is so high, that enlarged trunks become places to live for the rich and renting out a parking lot become’s the norm for the average person.
The newest piece to date, ‘Take a break examines a world in which break times in the work place take on an unusual twist. When the bell goes workers quickly scurry to their designated hooks to hang from their coats for a specific length of time. The piece explores a satirical take on a world measured on the length of time breaks are given rather than their purpose.
All the drawings are done in illustrator or by hand and then imported into premiere pro to be animated and edited.
