Despite graduating as an IT engineer with majors in telecom, Azfar Jafri followed his dream of becoming a filmmaker and started his career as a Video/Sound Editor in a small production studio. He soon found his way into the CG industry and became a 3d Character Animator at Trango, which gave him the opportunity to explore the technologies used in films for visual effects. After gaining significant command over 3d dynamics, lighting and camera, he started supervising a team of creative individuals (within Trango) and directed several television commercials for both local and international clients, including Lexus, Scion, Nike, UPS & Mobilink-Blackberry.
Meanwhile, Azfar directed and produced several independent short films and most of them got highly acclaimed by the online audience. His most famous short films are 'Khel' (a suspense/horror) & 'Aik Khat Tumharay Naam' (a motivational narrative). Almost all his work reflects his CG background, which renders uniqueness and gives him an edge in the industry.
Azfar's independent projects lead him to his first feature film, 'Siyaah'. Azfar directed the film while Imran Raza Kazmi, a young entrepreneur and film enthusiast, produced it. The film was distributed by Footprint Entertainment and Cinepax Cinemas nationwide on 15th March 2013.
