Philip grew up in Rome, Italy in a family of Middle European origins.
During the 80s he first got involved with the emerging music-video format
and experimented with a camcorder as a mean to express his vision, and ideas.
After relocating to San Francisco in 1994 to pursue Film Studies,
he eventually graduated from the Academy of Art University with an
AA degree in Motion Pictures & Video in 2001.
Working as a freelance cameraman and editor ever since, he gained experience on short and feature length independent films, documentaries, music and event videos, commercials, corporate and instructional videos while collaborating with several cutting edge production companies and award winning filmmakers.
Documentaries soon became his focus as he filmed some of his travels around the World, and became involved with lafco, the Los Angeles Filmmakers Co-op, an inspiring collective of anti-mainstream, multi-talented artists working with cinematic means of expression.
In 2004, his documentary "Burning Man-The Floating World" won "Best Documentary" at the DIGIT Festival in NY.
On a vision quest to become a world class cinematographer and work on films that will promote social, cultural and environmental change he's active in the wedding video industry while working freelance as video journalist, among other things.
Currently based in San Francisco, he's also a member of BAPVA, the Bay Area Professional Videographers Association.
Other interests include photography, journalism, World travel, new & old art forms, cultures and musical styles, philosophy, quantum science & spirituality, shamanism, anthropology, ecology and self sustainability, outdoor living, the ocean and more or less extreme sports.
