Javier Arroyo was born in 1975 in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has dual nationality as an argentine citizen but also has an austrian passport belonging to the European Union. As well as his native tounge of spanish, Javier speaks and reads english.
He graduated from the National School of Cinematographic Realization and Experimentation (ENERC by the spanish acronym) as a Director of photography in the year 2001. This prestigious institution depends on the National Institute of Film and Audiovisuals Arts (INCAA).
His professional carreer began in the year 1995 working in videos and television, first as a camera assistant but shortly after as a cameraman. In the year 1997 he gave his first steps in the world of direction of photography working on the development of institutional videos, which he directed, photographed and edited. It was at that time when he first Discoverer his passion for direction of photography and decides to enroll in ENERC. With this, he began to immerse himself in the fascinating world of films and photography. He worked on several short movies and advertisments as well as negative film.
In the year 2001, while he was finishing his graduate course, he made his first feature film as cinematographer (Perro Amarillo, co directed with Julieta Escardó). During that same year he was able to try the first high definition cameras that arrvived in Argentina to TELEFE, one of the countrys’ leading television stations. This opened in his carreer a new skill and area of experimentation.
For several years he would work at the same time as a HD technician and as freelance for three high definition companies in Argentina (Lahaye DS, Betaplus and Alta Definicion Argentina). In addition, he particípate in several feature films as cameraman. Until this year he has been involved in the making of twenty two feature films (both in a national and international level), of wich he particípated as director of photography in six of them, and as cameraman in nine.
Some of his latest work in recent years as photography director include business and product commercials such as: Aerolineas Argentinas, Samsung, Philips, Personal, AFIP (National Tax Office), Gobierno de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires Government), Siemens, National Lotery, Pampers, Diario Olé.
His latest work in the film industry has been as DoP in “Ningun amor es perfecto”, of Pablo Sofovich (in post producción) and “Gestacion”, of Esteban Ramirez from Costa Rica, as second cinematographer.
He has worked in several countries: Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Paraguay, Italy, Spain, Germany y Switzerland.
