Jenna Pope is an award-winning freelance photographer and expert social media strategist living in New York City.
At the age of 17, Jenna purchased her first professional camera after being interested in photography ever since she was a young child. She taught herself photography through trial and error, which allowed her to develop her own style and technique. Jenna then began doing photo shoots and weddings in her small hometown of Edgerton, Wisconsin. She transitioned to documentary photojournalism at the beginning of 2011 when she found herself at the Wisconsin State Capitol during monumental protests with a camera in her hands, and then moved to New York City in 2012 in order to further her photography career.
Since then, Jenna has traveled to places such as Washington, D.C.; Red Lake, Minnesota; Tampa, Florida; Chicago, Illinois; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Istanbul, Turkey, to document protests and social justice movements. Some events she has covered are the Wisconsin protests, Occupy Wall Street, the 2012 Republican National Convention protests, the 2012 Democratic National Convention protests, the NATO protests in Chicago, Hurricane Sandy and the aftermath, and the Gezi Park protests in Istanbul, Turkey.
